Artist's Statement:

I am fascinated by color. It's beauty is inspirational and it's influence on dimensional space is intriguing. My work reflects my passion for capturing this beauty wherever I see it and allowing it to sculpt the spatial plane of my canvas. I have tried many different mediums, but oil is my favorite. This medium is perfect for luminously displaying the subtlety of color.

I love working 'en plein air' where I find I can observe colors that are missed when doing studio work.  The artwork of  Florida artist Beanie Backus has been an inspiration to me in my own work.

Education and Experience:

I studied art from a very young age at the Art Workshop of Winter Park, Florida. After receiving a degree in graphic design from UCF, I worked for the ABC affiliate, WFTV in Orlando, as a graphic designer. My work in television also included illustration, set design, and courtroom sketching.

After leaving WFTV, I did freelance work in graphics, painting and sculpture of architectural artifacts. The opportunity to sculpt architectural artifacts allowed me to use my talent for three dimensional work. I was privileged to be commissioned to produce architectural art for both commercial and residential properties all over the state of Florida.

I then chose to study painting at the workshops of Larry Moore and Don Sondag whose work I admire. I was a member in the 'plein air' artist’s group, The Florida Painters. I taught oil and watercolor classes at the Casselberry Art House and became a member of Women in the Arts group,

www.womeninthearts.org.

Presently I am painting at my studio in Maitland, Florida.
